Austin Independent School District is a school district that is based in the city of Austin, Texas, United States. It was established in 1881.[1] Its current superintendent is Meria Joel Carstarphen [2]
Austin ISD serves most of the City of Austin, the City of Sunset Valley, the Village of San Leanna, and unincorporated areas in Travis County (including Manchaca).
In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[5]

- Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders [1] (6-7, will expand to 6-12 each year, with 12th grade added in 2013) (opened in the former Porter Middle School campus)
- Fulmore Magnet of Humanities and Law for International Studies;
- Kealing Magnet; The Magnet accepts students from across AISD on a basis of academic record and provides them with a more advanced program. The Magnet is not housed separately from Kealing's comprehensive program, but provides different classes to its students.
